Last weekend Dagenham Colts started their new season. A hard fought game against well drilled opposition in Upper Clapton U18. The game kicked off with some handling errors from both sides, then quick rucking and passing allowed Martin to run half of the pitch to score the teams first try of the season. Good rucking and set piece from Dagenham with good hands and defence from Upper Clapton continued the first half when a loose ball was pounced upon by Ryan who then beat his man and scored from at least 40 yards out. Unfortunately as the half and then the game wore on Upper Clapton’s ability to bring on numerous substitutes and their good handling caused problems. Dagenham competed well in set pieces winning two scrums and two lineouts against the head as well as all their own ball but unfortunately a lack of subs, fitness and some lacklustre tackling told in the end. A final score of 41 - 10 to Upper Clapton was a tad harsh but overall a well played game by both sides. This is a Dagenham side that won’t lay down and will fight to the end!! Well done boys!!!
